Two quite contrasting cuts here from LA boy Uri Allgood, who's on a self-described mission to "fuse his love of 80s new wave, disco, deep booty house and intergalactic laser beams". 'Release' itself is an uptempo disco (or perhaps disco-house) jam in the classic sense, complete with uplifting strings, diva-esque female vocal and ass-wigglin' funk bassline, and is the pick to these ears. The accompanying (and aptly named) 'Italo Timewarp', on the other hand, is all glacial synths and vocodered vox - though another, more soulful male vocal leads the way and stops things getting too horribly 1983-ish.
