Since Doctorsoul's contribution to the Too Slow To Disco edits series, which dropped late last year, hopes are naturally sky-high for the scalpel-wielding producer's latest EP on Midnight Riot. He's straight of the blocks with "Universal Thing", a lolloping chunk of elastic disco-funk laden with ear-catching guitar riffs, spiralling Latin horn blasts, low-slung bass and heady group vocals. "Sing It" is a deeper and loopier trip into disco-boogie territory packed with clipped guitar motifs, rising horns and rubbery jazz-funk bass, while "Paa Pa Le" sees him subtly reconfigure a renowned, trumpet-laden, disco-era jazz-funk gem.
